The Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University administers various financial aid schemes and programs. These schemes and programs are offered on merit and competitive bases to all learners at the University and without discrimination. In order to apply for financial aid or a scholarship, a learner must fill out a “Financial Aid & Scholarship Application Form” and submit it to the Learner Services Unit (LRM Office) four weeks prior to the start of the semester for which the financial aid is sought. A learner can not enjoy more than one type or program of financial aid at a time. In case a leaner is eligible for more than one scheme or program of financial assistance, the one with the highest benefit to the learner will be applied. The Financial Aid and Scholarships Committee (FASC) shall determine the criteria for awarding the financial aid tuition percentage to the learners.
Types of Financial Aid Programs: Undergraduate Studies
Tuition Remission
All newly officially admitted learners to the undergraduate programs with limited financial resources and who have completed their high school certificate and demonstrated academic excellence by achieving a minimum cumulative percentage average of 85% may apply for a tuition remission ranging generally from 10%-25% of the tuition fees of the desired program.Continuing full-time learners with limited financial resources who maintain a minimum AGPA of 3.00 out of 4.00 may apply for a tuition remission ranging generally from 10-25% percent of the tuition fees.
Family Tuition Remission
Families that have more than one member enrolled in the University such as a husband and wife, or more than one daughter or son simultaneously enrolled as full time learners in an undergraduate degree program may be granted a tuition discount of 20% for the second learner, 30% for the third learner, and 40% for the fourth learner.
Types of Financial Aid Programs: Graduate Studies
Tuition Remission
Learners who had been officially admitted to the graduate programs with limited financial resources and who demonstrate academic excellence in undergraduate studies by achieving a minimum cumulative average grade score of 3.00 out of 4.00 or its equivalent may apply for a tuition remission ranging generally from 10%-15% of the tuition fees.Continuing full-time graduate learners with limited financial resources who maintain a minimum AGPA of 3.5 out of 4.00 may also apply for a tuition remission ranging generally from 10%-15% percent of the tuition fees.
Family Tuition Remission
Families that have more than one member enrolled in the University such as a husband and wife, or more than one daughter or son simultaneously enrolled as full time learners in a graduate degree program are entitled for a tuition discount of 10% for the second learner, 20% for the third learner and 30% for the fourth learner.
External Sponsorships
- Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University had numerous agreements and MOUs with government departments and the civic and business organizations within UAE and the region. Members of these organizations are entitled to 10% discount on the fees of the programs offered by the University. These organizations might be entitled for higher discount rates. For more details, learners are advised to contact the Financial Aid Office or the Admission and Registration Office.
- Some learners are sponsored by government bodies, public and private organizations, or individuals. Such learners are advised to contact the Financial Aid Office or the Admission and Registration Office to familiarize themselves with the rules governing these types of scholarships.
University Merit Scholarships
- In line with tenets of its mission statement of affordability of education, the University avails each semester a number of scholarships for both the graduate and undergraduate programs. These scholarships will be given on competitive basis and according to the financial needs of applicants. The Financial Aid and Scholarships Committee (FASC) shall determine the criteria for awarding these scholarships. The Financial Aid Committee may distribute the funds available under this category of financial aid between two or more learners rather than giving it to only one learner. This scholarship shall be given as 50% discount on tuition fees for eligible applicants and for only one semester.
- The Hamdan Bin Mohammed e-University also encourages learner’s outstanding performance in undergraduate studies by granting learners who score a 3.50 GPA or above in a given semester, with a 20% reduction in tuition fees for the next semester given that his/her study load is not below 12 credit hours.
- Full time learners in undergraduate studies who enrol in 18 credit hours in a given semester are entitled to a 10% reduction in tuition fee taking that the learner’s AGPA does not fall below 2.75.
Discontinuity of Financial Aid
In order to maintain and enjoy the privileges of financial aid as provided herewith, a learner must satisfy the following:
- The leaner shall not be under academic or conduct probation;
- His or her academic load for the semester in which financial aid is sought shall not be less than 12 credit hours (in case of undergraduate learners) and 9 credit hours (in case of graduate learners);
- The learner’s AGPA shall not go below 3.00 (in case of undergraduate learners) and 3.50 (in case of graduate learners) during the study period.
- If the financial aid is provided under the “Family Tuition Remission” category, the financial aid shall be discontinued when the principal family member withdrew or dismissed from the University for whatever reason.
